… the act of preaching a certain belief or way of life, but not, in fact, holding these same virtues oneself. It is the act of being deceptive, just pretending to be good, as in: It is hypocritical to tell your children to behave a certain way and then do the exact opposite yourself.

The Pretense
President Obama: “The executive order on ethics I will sign shortly represents a clean break from business as usual. As of today, lobbyists will be subject to stricter limits than under any other administration in history. If you are a lobbyist entering my administration, you will not be able to work on matters you lobbied on, or in the agencies you lobbied during the previous two years. When you leave government, you will not be able to lobby my administration for as long as I am president.”

The facts
The Obama administration wants to waiver the above rule to allow itself to appoint William Lynn, a former lobbyist for defense contractor Raytheon Corporation, as deputy defense secretary.

Mr. Obama and his administration have set standards to which it basically ignores. Said another way, their executive order does not apply to them. The rules only apply to the point where it becomes inconvenient.

This change thing is just fricking awesome.
