There are two elements to this worth mentioning.

First, the liberties and rights described by the COTUS creates the dichotomy between our moral obligation to protect life and the desire to protect those liberties and rights. These two values are at odds with one another. Without the former there is no latter. To borrow the phrase, it’s a question of whether we “piss on the Constitution”, or piss on life.

Second, the hyperbole should be self-evident. As yet, there is no evidence to suggest that we are about to begin a campaign to summarily round up citizens in the dark of night and throw them into some form of political labor camp. Yes, there is a threat, but I don’t see this country doing that to itself and to do so would mean we’ve actually learned nothing from the lessons given by Hitler, the internment of Japanese-Americans after Pearl Harbor and our civil rights movement. It will be a test for this nation and will shed some light on the kind of people we are. It will also divide. On the one hand there will be those who believe we will be able to balance these opposing beliefs. On the other, there will be those who don’t.

This on-going argument has a simple resolution which I suspect will soon present itself. This question of whether we have the right to protect the lives of innocents by detaining terrorists intent of robbing us of our perceived liberties and freedoms will be put before the SCOTUS. If the court upholds this law in its current form, the test for this country begins.

Regardless of the outcome the forces in our gov’t (We the People) will and should continue to influence the likelihood of its existence. In other words, the current state of the law represents a point along the line of its existence and there are sufficient reasons to believe its existence will not be a permanent one.

(There is a bit of irony in the fact that McCain, a former POW who suffered at the hands of his captors is a proponent of this law. There is little doubt there is anyone more wary than he and I doubt he is throwing caution into the wind.)

At the end of the day, this is really only a distraction, drawing our attention away from the reason the bill was signed into law to brave the criticisms created by its affront to our Constitution. It should cause you to think about how we are going to defeat those reasons before it really gets ugly.

To understand how we got to this, we need to take a short look at history.

The Time Line of Events

A significant portion of the events leading up to the Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac debacle begins in – believe it or not – 1977

1977

The Community Reinvestment Act (or CRA, Pub.L. 95-128, title VIII, 91 Stat. 1147, 12 U.S.C. § 2901 et seq.) is a United States federal law designed to encourage commercial banks and savings associations to meet the needs of borrowers in all segments of their communities, including low- and moderate-income neighborhoods. Congress passed the Act in 1977 to reduce discriminatory credit practices against low-income neighborhoods, a practice known as redlining. The Act requires the appropriate federal financial supervisory agencies to encourage regulated financial institutions to meet the credit needs of the local communities in which they are chartered, consistent with safe and sound operation. To enforce the statute, federal regulatory agencies examine banking institutions for CRA compliance, and take this information into consideration when approving applications for new bank branches or for mergers or acquisitions.

And who signed this beautiful piece of legislation into law? The original Act was passed by the 95th United States Congress and signed into law by President Jimmy Carter in 1977.

1995

In 1995 Clinton loosened housing rules by rewriting the Community Reinvestment Act, which put added pressure on banks to lend in low-income neighborhoods. It is the subject of heated political and scholarly debate whether any of these moves are to blame for our troubles, but they certainly played a role in creating a permissive lending environment. He also signed the Commodity Futures Modernization Act, which exempted credit-default swaps from regulation.

Clinton admitted that his Administration could have done more to “set in motion some more formal regulation of the derivatives market,” but he vehemently denied that the repeal of Glass-Steagall or his Administration’s housing policies helped spur the financial crisis.

1999

September In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders.

November: Clinton signs banking overhaul measure. Congress passed the bipartisan measure November 5, opening the way for a blossoming of financial “supermarkets” selling loans, investments and insurance. Proponents had pushed the legislation in Congress for two decades, and Wall Street and the banking and insurance industries had poured millions of dollars into lobbying for it in the past few years. “It was sweaty, it was tense, but it had momentum,” Sen. Charles Schumer (D-New York) said of the final bargaining session. He and Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-Connecticut) whose states are home to Wall Street and the banking industry (New York) and the insurance industry (Connecticut), helped broker the agreement.

Scandal at Fannie Mae

Corrupted political leaders contributed to the debacle we now wake up to every morning. In a Wall Street Journal analysis, the failure of the GSE’s began shortly after their 2003 and 2004 accounting scandals. Senior executives at Fannie Mae manipulated accounting to collect millions of dollars in undeserved bonuses and to deceive investors. The government-sponsored mortgage company was fined $400 million.

Many Warnings Ignored

Spanning a period of 6 years, President Bush and his Administration have not only warned of the systemic consequences of failure to reform GSEs but also put forward thoughtful plans to reduce the risk that either Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac would encounter such difficulties.

Beginning as early as 2001, the President made repeated attempts to reform the supervision of these entities but was thwarted by the legislative maneuvering of those who emphatically denied there were problems with the GSEs.

The mounting and overwhelming evidence points to the fact many Democrats chose to drive while their eyes were closed, ignoring call after call to fix the problem and in some cases, belligerently and arrogantly denying any problem existed with their policies.

Fast Forward — October, 2011

Now, three years after the meltdown of 2008, we watch in amazement as the disillusioned take to the streets to protest against Wall Street and the banks.

It’s a bit ironic once you realize that the failed policies designed to give them what they want – easier access to housing being among them – turns out to be the catalyst to send them out into the streets in protest. Too self-centered to see it, or too stupid to understand, they are actually protesting against their own principles and philosophies, the outcome of which they apparently don’t like.

Cry Baby, cry.

To get his win into some kind of perspective, Weiner won this seat with an 11 point lead while Turner won it with a 7 point lead. That’s an 18 point swing from one end of the political spectrum to the other. This, in a district where registered Democrats outnumber Republicans by 3 to 1. Huge.

The win is often described this way:

“New Yorkers put Washington Democrats on notice that voters are losing confidence in a President whose policies assault job-creators and affront Israel,” said National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions (R-Texas) in a statement after Turner’s win.

While the win is partly being attributed to Obama’s anti-Isreal stance not in agreement with the district’s Jewish segment, the National Jewish Democratic Council disputed the idea that Israel was a major factor.

That leaves the current state of the economy as the culprit behind the Democratic loss. If this is the case, can the defeat then be attributed to the fact that the policies of the DNC have come back around to bite the hands that feed it?

It appears that Democrats believe in and support their principles right up to the point where they start to personally feel their effects. THEN they don’t like them.

When the Obama administration releases a report on the Friday before a long weekend, it’s clearly not trying to draw attention to the report’s contents. Sure enough, the “Seventh Quarterly Report” on the economic impact of the “stimulus,” released on Friday, July 1, provides further evidence that President Obama’s economic “stimulus” did very little, if anything, to stimulate the economy, and a whole lot to stimulate the debt.

This is further confirmation of what we already knew from information released in September of 2009, six months after the act’s passage.

Years of unrestrained spending, cheap lending and failure to implement financial reforms left Greece badly exposed when the global economic downturn struck. This whisked away a curtain of partly fiddled statistics to reveal debt levels and deficits that exceeded limits set by the eurozone.

As for Obama’s nation, the unrestrained spending has been going on for a few years in addition to the cheap lending. America has yet to implement any financial reforms and is exposed to any global economic downturn which in all likelihood, could begin with a Greece default. The dreaded contagion would run like wild fire through Europe and then ripple around the world.

If Greece is to be saved, the only measures to be employed now will be cruel in terms of services cut and taxes added. Yet, when it comes down to enacting those measure designed to save themselves, they are rejected as being too cruel.

The lack of agreement [ on how private holders of Greek debt should share the cost of a new bailout for Athens worth an estimated 120 billion euros before a June 23-24 summit ] pushed the cost of insuring Greek debt against default to a new record high on Wednesday, while shares in Greek banks fell 7 percent on fears of political uncertainty.

The PASOK deputy who defected said he could not back the package.

“You have to be as cruel as a tiger to vote for these measures. I am not,” George Lianis said in a letter to Parliament Speaker Filippos Petsalnikos on Tuesday.

The resignation offer doesn’t really surprise me. However, I believe Greece is heading for a French style revolution with the demise of their gov’t being the overarching goal. With the current sentiment of its people, it doesn’t look like they have any appetite for any semblance of the status-quo, much like the sentiment in America, running away from anything Bush-like, ie. McCain-Palin, and rushing head-long toward anything that is the farthest away from classic gov’t. Look what we got as an example of that.

It looks to me like the Greece populace wants a default and to secede from the EU so they can “stick it” to the man, who they view as responsible for their plight. If this happens, the rate of inflation they will have to impose upon themselves with their new currency to pay for their debt burden will be astronomical.

They haven’t a clue.

I’m expecting marshal law and no elections for awhile fomenting the conditions for worse leadership.

Unemployed economist Xenophon told Sky News: “I am deeply opposed to the cuts this government is trying to push through and we the People are determined to stop them.

“But violence has no place here whether it be from demonstrators or the police.”

A hotel employee who joined the demonstration told us he felt that change was “in the air.”

“I don’t see how the politicians can go on defending these cuts. Something has to change.”

Greece’s Socialist-led government is trying to save 6.5bn euros to meet the demands of an international bail-out by the EU and the International Monetary Fund.

It is both ironic and illuminating that an unemployed “economist” takes the position that less government (spending) is a bad thing. Despite his education and intellect, or lack thereof, this “economist” cannot see those policies are among the reasons for Greece’s economic demise.

This train wreck is only now starting to ignite. These conditions usually means it will get worse before it gets better and in this case, it has the potential to create more chaos throughout Europe and will test the Euro. The sentiment among the Greeks is such that I expect them to want to drop their participation in the EU and Euro so they can print (money) their way out of their debt on their own, but to do so means the level of inflation I already mentioned.

So, who are these people?

Consider Saul D. Alinksy. Known as the “father of modern American radicalism,” Saul D. Alinsky (1909-1972) developed strategies and tactics that take the enormous, unfocused emotional energy of grassroots groups and transform it into effective anti-government and anti-corporate activism. Activist organizations teach his ideas widely taught today as a set of model behaviors, and they use these principles to create an emotional commitment to victory – no matter what. This describes very well Obama’s community organizing work, which he did long before becoming a member of the U.S. Senate. It is not hard to see Alinksy’s work oozing from the pores of Obama. Obama’s most recent use of one of Alinsky’s rules was this past week when Obama ridiculed businessman Donald Trump’s efforts to get answers to questions surrounding the origin of Obama’s birth. These are questions of which the answer is owed to the American people.

“I know that he’s taken some flack lately,” Obama said of Trump. “But no one is happier, no one is prouder to put this birth certificate matter to rest than The Donald.”

But then the president quickly changed gears. “And that’s because he can finally get back to focusing on the issues that matter, like–did we fake the moon landing? What really happened in Roswell? And where are Biggie and Tupac?” Obama said, referencing rap icons Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur. – Barack Obama during his speach in front of a live televised audience at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington, D.C. in late April of 2011.

At the end of the day Obama is ultimately at fault for his failure to disclose to the American people this most basic of information upon which his eligibility to be president of the United States rests. As Oprah Winfrey on her talk show asked him the day after his disclosure, “What took so long?”. Some analyst say the timing of his disclosure is directly related to his falling poll numbers.

Cloward-Piven

The Cloward–Piven strategy is a political strategy outlined by Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, then both sociologists and political activists at the Columbia University School of Social Work, in a 1966 article in The Nation entitled “The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty”.

The two were critical of the public welfare system, and their strategy called for overloading that system to force a different set of policies to address poverty. They stated that many Americans who were eligible for welfare were not receiving benefits, and that a welfare enrollment drive would strain local budgets, precipitating a crisis at the state and local levels that would be a wake-up call for the federal government, particularly the Democratic Party, thus forcing it to implement a national solution to poverty. Cloward and Piven wrote that “the ultimate objective of this strategy [would be] to wipe out poverty by establishing a guaranteed annual income…” There would also be side consequences of this strategy, according to Cloward and Piven. These would include: easing the plight of the poor in the short-term (through their participation in the welfare system); shoring up support for the national Democratic Party then-splintered by pluralist interests (through its cultivation of poor and minority constituencies by implementing a national solution to poverty); relieving local governments of the financially and politically onerous burdens of public welfare (through a national solution to poverty).

The strategy of forcing political change through orchestrated crisis. The “Cloward-Piven Strategy” seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.

To capture the significance of Barack Obama’s Radical Left connections and his relation to the Cloward-Piven strategy, consider the following flow chart. It is by no means complete. There are simply too many radical individuals and organizations to include them all here. But these are perhaps the most significant.

They represent the organizations at work who believe America’s economic and political systems are worthy of begin destroyed. They represent the ardent support for Obama. The chart puts Barack Obama at the epicenter of American radical leftism. Not only are his connections significant, they practically define who he is. Taken together, they constitute a who’s who of the American radical left, and guiding all is the Cloward-Piven strategy.

Change and the Moral High Ground

Too many Americans today brush off Obama’s influences as another conspiracy theory worthy of being alongside Big Foot and UFO’s. There are two types; those who don’t take the claims seriously or if they do and already understand these claims to be truth, they don’t want that truth to be known. They are happy if the majority of Americans are oblivious to the reasons behind the changes taking place in America today. In either case, they defend Obama’s policies and characterize them as morally correct.

One only needs to look to pre-Nazi Germany to understand how quickly the abnormal replaces the normal and how values and government can change in a matter of months. But try comparing Obama-era changes to Hitler-era changes and you’re instantly vilified. Not because of the comparison to a charismatic leader who tears down its long standing government to replace it with his own idea of what government should be to its people, but because his blind supporters are only capable of one-dimensional thinking and can only associate Hitler to the holocaust. They cannot see the truth.

The naive among Obama’s supporters truly believe he is trying to help its citizens. They cannot see how Obama’s vision of America will actually lead to its destruction and loss of standing on the world’s stage, just as Hitler’s leadership lead to Germany’s destruction.

While the influences these people may have had upon the formation of Obama’s beliefs might be new to most, there is someone who has known this since Obama’s college years.

What follows is Mr. Root’s view of Obama, his view of America and its place in the world and how his policies are working to bring about Obama’s brand of “Hope and Change”.

Obama’s agenda: Overwhelm the system

Rahm Emanuel cynically said, “You never want a crisis to go to waste.” It is now becoming clear that the crisis he was referring to is Barack Obama’s presidency.

Obama is no fool. He is not incompetent. To the contrary, he is brilliant. He knows exactly what he’s doing. He is purposely overwhelming the U.S. economy to create systemic failure, economic crisis and social chaos — thereby destroying capitalism and our country from within.

Barack Obama is my college classmate (Columbia University, class of ’83). As Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one, Obama is following the plan of Cloward & Piven, two professors at Columbia University. They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system with government spending and entitlement demands. Add up the clues below. Taken individually they’re alarming. Taken as a whole, it is a brilliant, Machiavellian game plan to turn the United States into a socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that desperately needs government for survival … and can be counted on to always vote for bigger government. Why not? They have no responsibility to pay for it.

– Universal health care. The health care bill had very little to do with health care. It had everything to do with unionizing millions of hospital and health care workers, as well as adding 15,000 to 20,000 new IRS agents (who will join government employee unions). Obama doesn’t care that giving free health care to 30 million Americans will add trillions to the national debt. What he does care about is that it cements the dependence of those 30 million voters to Democrats and big government. Who but a socialist revolutionary would pass this reckless spending bill in the middle of a depression?

– Cap and trade. Like health care legislation having nothing to do with health care, cap and trade has nothing to do with global warming. It has everything to do with redistribution of income, government control of the economy and a criminal payoff to Obama’s biggest contributors. Those powerful and wealthy unions and contributors (like GE, which owns NBC, MSNBC and CNBC) can then be counted on to support everything Obama wants. They will kick-back hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions to Obama and the Democratic Party to keep them in power. The bonus is that all the new taxes on Americans with bigger cars, bigger homes and businesses helps Obama “spread the wealth around.”

– Make Puerto Rico a state. Why? Who’s asking for a 51st state? Who’s asking for millions of new welfare recipients and government entitlement addicts in the middle of a depression? Certainly not American taxpayers. But this has been Obama’s plan all along. His goal is to add two new Democrat senators, five Democrat congressman and a million loyal Democratic voters who are dependent on big government.

– Legalize 12 million illegal immigrants. Just giving these 12 million potential new citizens free health care alone could overwhelm the system and bankrupt America. But it adds 12 million reliable new Democrat voters who can be counted on to support big government. Add another few trillion dollars in welfare, aid to dependent children, food stamps, free medical, education, tax credits for the poor, and eventually Social Security.

– Stimulus and bailouts. Where did all that money go? It went to Democrat contributors, organizations (ACORN), and unions — including billions of dollars to save or create jobs of government employees across the country. It went to save GM and Chrysler so that their employees could keep paying union dues. It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could be bailed out (after giving Obama almost $1 million in contributions). A staggering $125 billion went to teachers (thereby protecting their union dues). All those public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect their bloated salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America. The country goes broke, future generations face a bleak future, but Obama, the Democrat Party, government, and the unions grow more powerful. The ends justify the means.

– Raise taxes on small business owners, high-income earners, and job creators. Put the entire burden on only the top 20 percent of taxpayers, redistribute the income, punish success, and reward those who did nothing to deserve it (except vote for Obama). Reagan wanted to dramatically cut taxes in order to starve the government. Obama wants to dramatically raise taxes to starve his political opposition.

With the acts outlined above, Obama and his regime have created a vast and rapidly expanding constituency of voters dependent on big government; a vast privileged class of public employees who work for big government; and a government dedicated to destroying capitalism and installing themselves as socialist rulers by overwhelming the system.

Add it up and you’ve got the perfect Marxist scheme — all devised by my Columbia University college classmate Barack Obama.

America needs to wake up. But I fear it may be too late.

President Obama’s tax compromise have left House Democratic leaders livid and are now indicating they will abandon the administration and go their own way on critical issues of national security.

In a move viewed by some House Democrats as an act of defiance and a direct demonstration of just how furious the caucus is with Obama’s decision to work with Republicans to extend the Bush-era tax cuts, the Appropriations Committee attached a provision to a $1.1 trillion resolution to keep the government funded next year to prevent Obama from spending any funds to try terrorism suspects in civilian court instead of military commissions.

In addition, the bill was crafted with language to prevent the closing of the detainee prison at Guantánamo Bay in Cuba.

Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.), a member of the defense appropriations subcommittee demonstrated his anger with the president in a short interview Thursday about the provision and the tax debate held shortly after the Democratic Caucus voted to reject Obama’s tax-cut deal.

“This is a lack of leadership on the part of Obama,” fumed Moran (D-Va.) “I don’t know where the fuck Obama is on this or anything else. They’re AWOL.”

With poll after poll showing the Democrat’s GITMO policies unpopular with the majority of Americans, the apparent 180 degree turn by House Democrats on both the terrorist trials and GITMO policy left Republicans, who have long opposed closing Guantánamo Bay, stunned.

Disingenuous House Democrats

On the one hand, the House Democrats have sent Obama a message about how angry they are with what they view as an “end around” deal brokered by a rogue president, they also may have been feeling added pressure on the GITMO issue, but they’ll never admit that. Earlier in the week, the director of national intelligence had issued a report to Congress which said five of the 69 detainees transferred to other countries form Guantanamo Bay by the Obama administration are believed to have rejoined terrorist groups.

The vast majority of the 598 detainees released from the prison since it was opened in 2002 were transferred under the Bush administration, either to their home countries or to other nations. In all, 150 detainees, or 25 percent, are confirmed or believed to have rejoined the fight, the report said.

While the House Democrats have decided to fall on the correct side of the issue and act in a way which reflects the concerns of a majority of Americans, they are motivated more by the opportunity to “stick it” to and humiliate their rogue President.

The move insures Obama will break his campaign promise to close GITMO and is sure to further anger what appears to be a disintegrating support base.

The House Democrats have just said, "No, You Can't"

Those who adhere to the PC doctrine are deathly afraid of hurting the feelings of any group of people you care to name. This includes Muslims who stand together in silence while their brothers wage their Holy War against Western civilization, especially the United States, Great Britain and a handful of other European nations.

Because of liberal-born PC, leadership from the Democrat Party has reached a state where they prefer to engage in ruthlessness against our own citizens before they even begin to think about applying that ruthlessness against our enemies.

As a matter of fact, once they capture an enemy, they let them go to be “repatriated” only to have them rejoin the militant army from which they came so that they may again have an opportunity to kill us.

So, the next time you go through TSA’s screening process, as I have, remember this; none of the human-based incidents, such as the so-called Christmas underwear bomber, originated in the United States. Furthermore, Al Quaeda has modified their tactics, relying more upon inserting bomb material into cargo flights originating outside of the United States.

At the end of the day, the bombing attempts come very close to succeeding while the TSA fondles U.S. citizens.

How did we get to this?

Political Correctness is offshoot of the civil rights movement of the ’60s, the spirit of which has been perverted by Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, and others of their ilk who make their living by shaking down corporate America by claiming perceived violations of an individual’s civil rights.

Take for example, corporate human resource departments who filter less qualified candidates from its selection process. Reacting to the accusations of discrimination based upon race and fearing litigation brought against them by the ACLU or Jessie Jackson, et. al, in a knee-jerk fashion, the HR departments change policy and lower the standards of their selection process to give the appearance of being fair.

After decades of the forced adoption of mediocrity in corporate America, the situation has been recognized by our education system, which now churns out more graduates who are less prepared than the generations of graduates before them.

As a result, fear of lawsuit driven by a perception of trampling upon an individual’s civil rights because of ethnicity, color, or nationality now defines policy.

The irony is that fear is now ingrained into our psyche to the point where it has left us paralyzed and no longer able to properly defend our transportation systems, our society and even those sick values about which I speak.

Maybe there’s some good to this after all.

Obama said Republicans had driven the economy into a ditch and then stood by and criticized while Democrats pulled it out. Now that progress has been made, he said,

“we can’t have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class families up in front. We don’t mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.”

Then he flips his position about the Republicans, casting them as slurpee sippers because in his eyes, Republicans won’t participate in governing.

“We’re down there (trying to get the economic car out of the ditch). It’s hot. We were sweating. Bugs everywhere. We’re down there pushing, pushing, pushing on the car. Every once in a while we’d look up and see the Republicans standing there. They’re just standing there fanning themselves — sipping on a Slurpee.”

A week before the election Obama calls Republicans “enemies”.

At the end of October, perhaps as a result of paying attention to the polls, the Obambastic urges Republicans to ease partisanship “Win, Lose, or Draw”

President Barack Obama challenged Republicans to set aside partisan difference after the election, “win lose or draw,” and pursue “practical steps” to invigorate the economy and create jobs.

“Whatever the outcome on Tuesday, we need to come together to help put people who are still looking for jobs back to work,” Obama said in his weekly radio and Internet address.

On the day after the election, the Obambastic asks Republicans for “common ground”

“looking forward to working with him and the Republicans to find common ground, move the country forward, and get things done for the American people”

You can’t have it both ways Mr. Obama.

You can’t chide, ridicule and blame your opposition, “enemies” as you call them, then come calling with your hat in hand to ask for a little cooperation.

In the weeks leading up to the mid-term election, you have been fond of telling your minions about how the mean ol’ slurpee-sippin’ Republicans drove the economic car into the ditch and how America can not afford to hand the keys back over to them.

Contrary to your pathetic view, Mr. Obama, the mounting and overwhelming evidence points to the fact many Democrats chose to drive while their eyes were closed, ignoring call after call to fix the problem and in some cases, belligerently and arrogantly denying any problem existed with their policies.

Some segments of the media recognize the Democrats are largely at fault and point to the new oversight laws pushed largely by Republicans.
